From the first sketch to the final walk-through, we design and build homes that fit your land, your budget, and the way your family actually lives. One team, one point of contact, start to finish.
Most custom homes pass through three or four separate companies before anyone breaks ground. An architect draws it, a designer selects it, a builder prices it, and somewhere in the handoffs the vision and the budget stop matching.
We work differently. Wood Brothers Homes is a design-build company, which means the people drawing your plans sit down the hall from the people pricing them. Design decisions get costed in real time. Site constraints get caught on paper instead of in the field. And when you have a question at month nine, you call the same team you met on day one.
We build five to ten homes a year across Boulder County and the Front Range. That number is deliberate. It is how many homes three brothers can stay personally involved in.
Every home is different. The scope below is what stays the same.
Before you commit to a property, we walk it. Soils, slope, utility access, setbacks, HOA restrictions, and view corridors all shape what can be built and what it will cost. If a lot has a problem, you should know before closing, not after.
Our design team develops your floor plan, elevations, and exterior direction under the same roof as our estimators. You see the cost implication of a decision while it is still easy to change.
Work with our designer or bring your own. Either way, selections are scheduled against the build calendar so the project never stalls waiting on a decision.
You get a line-item budget, not a lump sum. Allowances are set at real numbers based on what we actually buy, so the price you approve resembles the price you pay.
Louisville, Lafayette, Superior, Boulder, Erie, and unincorporated Boulder County each run their own review process and timeline. We handle submittals, corrections, and inspections so you never have to learn six permitting systems.
One superintendent, one schedule, one point of contact through the full build. We are a Louisville company with a storefront on Main Street, so after you move in we are a few minutes away.
We start with what you want to build, where, and what you are prepared to spend. If you already own land, we walk it. If you are still looking, we help you evaluate lots before you buy. You leave this stage knowing whether the project pencils.
Our design team develops plans, elevations, and finish direction while our estimators price each iteration. Nothing gets drawn that has not been costed.
With plans finalized and the budget locked, we submit for permits and hold your pricing. You get a construction schedule with real dates before we mobilize.
Foundation to final finish, managed by one superintendent with regular site updates. We walk the home with you before closing, punch the list, and stay available long after the keys change hands.
Justin, Jerod, and David Wood learned the trade from their grandfather and great-uncle. Justin founded the company in 2009. The name on the sign is the family that shows up on site.
We rebuilt 43 homes after the Marshall Fire, roughly ten percent of the total rebuild. That work taught us local soils, local jurisdictions, and how to build homes that hold up to what this county sends at them.
Class A roof assemblies, ember-resistant venting, noncombustible siding details, and site planning that respects defensible space. We build this way by default, not as a line-item upgrade.
Five to ten homes a year means one of the brothers is on your project, not managing a division that is managing your project.

From new custom builds to fire-resistant rebuilds, our in-house design-build team handles every stage of your project, start to finish.
What does it cost to build a custom home in Boulder County?
Most Wood Brothers custom homes land above two million dollars, though the final number depends heavily on lot conditions, square footage, and finish level. Land, site work, and utility connections vary widely across the county and can move a budget significantly before construction even starts. We give you a line-item estimate early so you are working from a real figure instead of a range.
How long does a custom home take?
Design and permitting typically run six to nine months, and construction runs twelve to eighteen months depending on size and complexity. Boulder County jurisdictions vary in review time, and we build that variance into the schedule we hand you rather than promising a date we cannot hold.
Do I need to own land before I contact you?
No. We work with clients at both stages. If you are still shopping, bring us the listings you are considering and we will tell you what each one will cost to build on. Soils, slope, utility access, and setbacks affect a budget more than most buyers expect.
What does design-build actually mean?
It means design and construction happen under one contract with one company. You are not coordinating between an architect who does not know your budget and a builder who was not part of the design conversation. It shortens the timeline, reduces change orders, and gives you one team to hold accountable.
Can I bring my own architect or designer?
Yes. Plenty of our clients arrive with plans in hand or a designer they want to keep. We review the drawings, price them honestly, and flag anything that will cause trouble in the field.
Where do you build?
Our home base is Louisville, and most of our work is in Boulder County, including Louisville, Lafayette, Superior, Boulder, Erie, and unincorporated county land. We build along the Front Range from Castle Rock to Fort Collins and east toward Brighton.
I am working with a realtor. How does that work?
Bring them into the first conversation. If you are represented, your agent needs to be part of the initial meeting or contact so everyone's relationship is clear from the start.
